Online Dating Sites Will Screen For Sexual Offenders and Fake Profiles
Awesome news. Just read that that the top three online dating websites (eHarmony, Match and Spark Networks) have decided that they will launch a joint initiative which will assist in protecting their members from identity theft as well as from sexual predators! They recently agreed that they will check their member subscriptions against the national sex offender registries. Those members who have been identified or are identified as a registered sex offender will not be permitted to use the websites.
These online dating sites will also provided members with advice, safety tips and best practices for meeting people offline. They’ll incorporate better and faster methods for reporting financial scans and fraudulent activities. Members will be allowed to reports these abuses via a hotline, email or a special website. Check out this great guest post for avoiding online dating scams.
This is a great win for consumers as these websites will start monitoring and weeding out fake profiles of people who are trying to run various scams as well as removing sexual offenders from using their services. Hopefully other online dating sites will start following suit.
